Statue of a Celtic Warrior
Recorded In Glauberg
This model was built using two data sources. The first set of data was gathered using a handheld laser scanner, and the second was gathered using photogrammetry. This combination of methods was required as it was difficult to reach certain areas of the statue using the hand scanner. It was possible to record a model that would fill in any missing data using photogrammetry as the camera is far easier to manipulate without endangering the artifact. Both models were imported in to a geomagic scene and placed in the same world space. Any areas of problem data were removed form the first model and replaced with the data from the second. The surface texture from the hand scan model was used to create the normal map for the final model, while the photo-realistic colour information from the photogrammetry model was used to create the diffuse map.
